This will automaticly ajust everyones sound to the same level. No more need to worry about people being to loud or to soft
Go to Setup
- Enable Direct Sound
- Select the SFX Button
- Select Compressor and click Add.
- Under Compressor Properties use the following settings
- Gain = Adjust for how loud you want people to be. (I use 15)
- Attack = 0.01
- Release = Around 500
- Threshold = Around -30
- Ratio = 100
- Pre delay = 4.0

And it makes everyone sound like shit at the same time. I'd rather people not sound like they're speaking through 4 inches of aquarium and have them take 2 minutes to fix their volume

Everyone sounds fine to me. Perhaps you should clean the wax out...

Running everyone through the compressor has made people sound terrible every version of vent I've ever used. This same piece of advice has been posted every 6 months as long as I've been using vent (4 years?).
So either they fixed their compression algorithm, or you need better headphones

The algorithm is probably fine. These settings are fucking INSANE! INSANE!!
You're boosting everybody's volume by 15 dB (which is ~562% louder). THEN you're setting the compressor to compress things at a 100:1 ratio (which is basically a horizontal line) for anything above -30 dB. In other words, you're compressing ~96.8% (every +/-6 dB being 200% or 50% respectively) of the ENTIRE SIGNAL almost flat.
The solution to vent is that people desire to be good, and everyone gets to a nice uniform level. I've tried as much as I can, but some people are miserably inconsistent and fluctuate by shitloads every single night.
As of right now, the only two people you should have volume adjustments for are Keeva and Kilbourne.
